TATOC member resort Lakeview Country Club has been taken over by a new company which plans to invest £20 million into the complex.
The leisure and holiday facility at Lanivet has been acquired from previous owners Club Domaine and will be headed up by chief executive Andy Thomson, who said Lakeview would be undergoing a total revamp. The sale was completed on 5th April 2013.
Mr Thomson's company, Lakeview Country Club Ltd, will be working with Kent-based construction and property specialists Calfordseaden to develop new villas and holiday lodges at Lakeview, but he said the first priority was to improve the current facilities.
"Ultimately, we intend to spend around £20 million on developing the site. If we gain planning approval, we hope to start this summer in what is likely to be a three-year building project," said Mr Thomson, whose background is in banking and the construction industry.
"But the first thing we will be doing is to totally regenerate the existing complex and to improve what we offer to both holidaymakers and, importantly, local
people."
He felt it was important to widen the appeal of the complex, in order to attract more local people to use it. Immediate plans included a major overhaul of the clubhouse, sports facilities, gym, bar and restaurant areas.
"We only took over Lakeview on April 5 but already we are beginning to make the necessary improvements," he said.
"We are also intending to put on events at Lakeview, such as beer and wine festivals and gastro nights, to broaden what we have to offer.
"Generally, we intend to carry out the improvements in quality which are required."
Previous owner Mike Vernon, his family or business contacts are no longer involved with the resort.
