TATOC only provides details of re-sale companies that comply with the TATOC Resale Code of Practice for companies offering a re-sale service to timeshare owners. The TATOC Code of Practice is comprehensive and requires the company to fully comply with EU regulations that came into force in the UK on the 23rd February 2011.
There are many new requirements under these regulations and one of them provides consumers with a mandatory 14-day withdrawal period on timeshare re-sale contracts. These companies do not ‘cold-call’ timeshare owners saying they already have a buyer for their timeshare and require payment of a deposit, bond of trust, or any other up-front fee. They offer a free of-charge registration service but may also recommend additional advertising for which there is a charge.
Please note: We advise timeshare owners not to send off originals of their ownership certificate or transfer documents prior to an agreed sale. If proof of ownership is required photocopies should be adequate in advance of a sale.
