Information on DRI resignation of weeks ownership
Diamond Resorts International weeks owners have a voice through elected committees with a chairperson. We recommend owners who require information on resignation contact their owners committee for the most up to date information.
The committee will explore all options and coordinate any actions to the DRI management team on behalf of all owners. Details of owners’ committees are available from DRI if you do not have this information to hand.
It is important that you study the ownership documents from when you purchased your weeks (especially for owners who purchased under GVC and Sunterra) and anything relevant you may have received or signed since that time to see what they say about resignation or becoming a maintenance fee defaulter.
In recognition that there can be certain exceptional circumstances for owners, Diamond Resort will take into consideration the following:
- Death of either member with no possibility of transferring to family members – copy of death certificate will be required.
- Bankruptcy or CAB/ solicitor’s involvement to resolve serious debt issues – specific documentary evidence detailing income, outgoing, assets and liabilities will be required.
- Over 75 years old with no possibility of transferring to family members – copy of birth certificate will be required.
- Medical problems/terminal illness necessitating reduced travel and/or decrease in financial resources to maintain membership – medical evidence will be required.
If you qualify for any of the above circumstances please contact the Diamond Resorts International ‘Owner Operations Department’ on 0845 359 0007 to discuss this with them.
