It has been brought to the attention of TATOC that owners at Macdonald Resorts are being targeted by a company called the Information Advice Bureau.
Agents for the company are contacting owners offering information and advice on timeshare and news about class actions. Owners are invited to local meetings to find out more, complete an assessment for compensation and register their intention to claim against any entity connected with the purchase of their timeshare, including any provider of credit or finance.
TATOC is very concerned that this is a tactic to entice owners to attend a sales presentation and would urge all owners to act with extreme caution if they choose to attend the presentation or accept any offer from them. TATOC also recommends that you do not give the company your original ownership documentation.
For further information on these types of presentations, please read TATOC Consumer Guides Number 15, 17, 31 and 85 which have been written by the TATOC team to assist owners if targeted by re-sales companies and bogus agencies. You can download them here.
