Luxury Lake District timeshare resort, Underscar, has re-joined the association as a TATOC member resort.

Underscar sits in one of the most enviable positions in the Northern Lakes on the sheltered slopes of Skiddaw, looking out over Keswick and Derwentwater.

Completed 13 years ago, the resort is based around a grade two-listed Italianate manor built in 1863. It was refurbished as a hotel and restaurant in 1990 but was sold into private ownership in 2010, as a private dwelling.

The developer received planning permission to build 25 luxury apartments in the grounds to the rear of the manor in a courtyard setting. Constructed in a complementary Italianate style, with materials to match the manor, the resort, completed in 2002, also includes an Italianate water garden.

The Underscar estate extends to 40 acres of woodland, parkland and formal gardens with a sunny, southerly aspect, and there are many wonderful fell walks all around.

Owners and guests at Underscar have free use of the on-site Oxley’s Health Spa, with its heated indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym. The spa also offers relaxing and luxurious treatments while the bistro serves hot and cold snacks daily and lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday.

Underscar is approximately two miles from the quaint market town of Keswick where visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities including shopping, golf, lakeside theatre, galleries and museums and not forgetting the wonderful sailing on Derwentwater.

Today, the resort is all but sold out, with just a few weeks still available. The lease runs until 2078 and Resort Fiduciary Services has recently been appointed as Trustee.

Speaking about renewing their membership, David Davies explained: “As a committee we believe TATOC promotes the interests of timeshare owners and will, where possible, help to recoup monies spent in scam situations; one Underscar member has already benefitted from advice in this respect. Our initial thoughts were that TATOC would be able to give guidance on marketing unsold and re-sale weeks and we look forward to being able to benefit from TATOC’s experience in these areas.”

TATOC CEO Harry Taylor added: “The TATOC team is delighted that Underscar has re-joined the association after a short absence. It is a superb resort with wonderful accommodation and an active committee that is looking for a new approach to sales and marketing. We hope that the Association will be able to assist them as they make some important decisions this year. ”

The Timeshare Association (Timeshare Owners and Committees), known as TATOC, was formed 25 years ago and is the only elected consumer association representing the interests of timeshare owners in Europe. 

The mission of TATOC is to safeguard and enhance the timeshare holiday experience for existing and prospective users and to be the voice of owners. In recent years, TATOC has focused not only on increasing the membership base but also raising the profile of the Association, establishing TATOC as the recognised voice of the timeshare consumer and an informed point of contact.

The Association is now a regular contributor to the consumer press and works closely with the UK’s Trading Standards offices, law enforcement and other authorities. TATOC CEO Harry Taylor is regularly interviewed on national radio and features in the industry press.
